Support for children released from custody

The Criminal Justice Joint Inspection has published its final findings from an inspection into the support provided to children after they are released from custody in England and Wales.
 
Findings from a sample of 50 young people released from Young Offenders Institutions (YOIs) between October 2018 and March 2019 include: of the 50 cases inspected 37 were judged to need input from children’s social care services, but only six of these received ‘adequate’ help with their resettlement needs.
