BACK TO NEWSThe What Works Centre for Child Sexual Abuse has published a report evaluating three pilot projects which embedded social workers in schools in England. The pilots in Lambeth, Southampton and Stockport explored how working in this way might help reduce referrals, support schools and reduce the need for children to enter care.
The Centre has received funding from the Department for Education (DfE) to support putting social workers schools across 10 local authorities in England; providing social worker supervision to Designated Safeguarding Leads in secondary schools in Greater Manchester; and evaluating interventions to close the educational attainment gap between young people who have had a social worker and their peers. The Centre has launched a call for local authorities in England to take part in the scale-up of the programme of work. The deadline to submit proposals is 15th June 2020.
