BACK TO NEWSThe Children (Equal Protection from Assault) (Scotland) Act 2019 came into force on 7 November 2020. The Act removes the common law defence of “reasonable chastisement” and provides children with the same legal protection from assault as adults. The Scottish Government has published a factsheet and posters.
