Coronavirus: free school meals

The BBC reports that the government in England has agreed to extend a voucher scheme for children to provide free school meals during the summer holidays. The Scottish Government has announced £27.6 million of additional funding to continue the provision of free school meals during the summer holidays and other food provision to help low income families during the coronavirus crisis. The Welsh Government has said it will guarantee ongoing funding for children to continue to receive free school meals throughout the summer holidays. In Northern Ireland, free school meal payments are due to stop at the end of June, but an extension to cover July and August is being considered.
