FosterTalk is currently looking to recruit AST advisors

We are seeking suitably qualified practitioners to join our UK-wide network of experienced Advisors delivering the Foster Carers Independent Support Service on a self-employed basis.

As a AST advisor, you would provide independent professional advice, support, advocacy and/ or mediation to foster carers who have had concerns, complaints or allegations made against them, in line with national minimum standards and best practice guidance.

Applicants should be qualified social workers or have a background in child care and a good working knowledge of fostering policies, practices and procedures, especially those relating to allegations against foster carers.

About the role

Please note that these roles are offered on a sessional, self-employed basis, and are subject to satisfactory checks and references including enhanced disclosure. Applicants must have daytime availability in order to attend meetings, reviews and panels with foster carers and therefore applications are not accepted from those who are in full-time employment.

AST cases require you to be flexible in your working week to meet the demands of the role and time spent working on a case is typically spread over several weeks or months depending on the nature of the allegation.

FosterTalk provides training as well as ongoing practice development workshops to AST advisors.
