Becoming Self-Employed

There are three, relatively easy ways to register as self-employed:

1. Register online using HMRC’s website
2. Download the registration form HMRC’s website, print off and post to HMRC
3. Call the Newly Self Employed Helpline on 0845 915 4515 to request the forms to be sent by post

The date that you register from should be the date that you went to panel, as this will allow you to claim the full amount of allowances that you are entitled to.

Registering as Self-Employed will also register you for Class 2 National Insurance contributions
